Meyer of Perryville, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005 at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. He was 81. He was born Nov. 30, 1923 at Apple Creek, the son of the late Louis and Anna (Meyer) Meyer. He was married Sept. 21, 1950 to Marie I. Kohlfeld, who preceded him in death Jan. 6, 1982. Survivors include one son, Dan (Denise) Meyer of Perryville; one brother, Tommy Meyer of St. Louis; two sisters, Edna Buchheit of Apple Creek and Alma Berkbigler of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Cole Meyer and Lorelei (Josh) Leible and one great-grandson, Kannon Leible. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Ewald, Edgar and Leo Meyer and two sisters, Dina Schloss and Hilda Orf . Mr. Meyer was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Apple Creek, a former Sportsman Club member, Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, VFW Post 4282, American Legion Post 133, Perryville Eagles Lodge 4034, Perryville Elks Lodge 2701 and AmVets Post 94. The family prefers memorials to be made to St. Vincent Educational Foundation or Missouri Veterans Home. The funeral service was held on Friday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Apple Creek with the Rev. Tony Dattilo officiating. Burial was in St. Michael's Cemetery at Apple Creek with the military graveside service provided by VFW Post 4282. Young & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. provided the arrangements.
