ALICE M. GIES
Alice Mary Gies, 86, of 2207 Fox Run Circle, died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 1999, 
at Blanchard Valley Regional Health Center. 

She was born July 3, 1912, in St. Marys, Pa., to Frank and Josephine (Bucheit) Cotter. 
She married Francis A.X. Gies on May 22, 1938, and he died Sept. 8, 1992. 

Surviving are two sons, John F. of Collinsville, Conn.; Richard T. of Findlay; seven 
grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, James and Robert Cotter, both of 
St. Marys, Pa.; and three sisters, Virginia VanSlander and Rosemary Simons, both of 
St. Marys, Pa.; Verna Sennett, Pinehurst, N.C. 

She also was preceded in death by four brothers, Howard, William, Joseph and Alvin 
"Bud" Cotter; and four sisters, Helen Kline, Margaret Dippold, Dorothy Hoehn, Elva 
Wolfe. 

Mrs. Gies was a homemaker. 

She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic 
Church, St. Marys, Pa. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. 

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, and from 
7-9 p.m. Friday at Lynch-Radowski Funeral Home, St. Marys, Pa.
