Perry County Republic (Jan/31/2004) Sr. Flora Schnurbusch Sr. Flora Frances Schnurbusch, F.S.M., of Richmond Heights, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Convent in Richmond Heights. She was 90. She was born Oct. 30, 1913 at Apple Creek, the daughter of the late August F. and Theresa F. (Leible) Schnurbusch. Survivors include five sister, Lorine Buchheit of Perryville, Verna Buchheit of O'Fallon, and Gertrude Nanney, Esther Ochs, and Margaret Renaud, all of St. Louis; and one brother, Everett Schnurbusch of Perryville; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Sr. Schnurbusch joined the congregation now known as the Franciscan Sisters of Mary in 1936 and professed her final vows in 1941. She ministered as the congregation's assistant novice mistress for 11 years until she transferred to laundry service at St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center in Madison, Wis., and then in the same position at St. Joseph Health Center in St. Charles until 1969. At that time she was appointed executive director of St. Mary of the Angels Convent. She became the executive housekeeper in 1973 until her retirement in December 1994.The family prefers memorials to be made to the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Tribute Fund, 1100 Bellevue Ave., St. Louis, MO 63117-1883. The funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28 at St. Mary of the Angels Chapel. Burial was in Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis.Kutis Funeral Home in St. Louis, provided the arrangements.
